About Me

I am a registered psychologist and certified EMDR therapist and member of EMDRAA. Originally from Brisbane, I have lived and worked all around Australia before settling in Cairns where I obtained my degree. To gain experience, I worked in numerous sectors including university, community services, public health, until I achieved my goal of starting my own private practice.

Over the last 15 years, I have provided trauma-informed support to clients throughout Queensland with complex and developmental trauma, PTSD, substance use issues, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, personality and dissociative disorders, and eating, somatic and sleep disorders.

In addition to EMDR, I am trained and experienced in a range of other therapeutic modalities, including:
MI (Motivational Interviewing)
DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy)
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy)
IFS (Internal Family Systems therapy)
Mindfulness and Meditation practices

As therapy is a two-way street, working as a therapist not only brings me a level of independence but a deep sense of fulfillment, purpose, and resilience, which enhances my own personal development and wellbeing. The therapeutic alliance formed between clients and myself is intended to provide a safe place for you to be heard, understood and to achieve emotional balance and wellbeing.

My practice is named after Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, transitions, nature, vegetation, childbirth, care of children, and of the moon.

Artemis is also the twin sister of Apollo, in both ancient Greece and NASA space programs. Apollo missions landed on the moon in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. The Artemis mission was launched in 2022, 50 years after Apollo 17 and is due to be launched again in March. So like me, these trips to the moon and the therapy I provide embraces a lifetime of experience, learning and optimism for future generations.

Artemis values embrace an empowerment model:
Purposefulness: the importance one attaches to a goal or task, providing inner strength-
Heart Autonomy: the freedom to make independent decisions and manage responsibilities
Head Competence: the belief that you have the capability, skills & confidence to produce your goals
Hand Impact: the degree to which your efforts influence positive outcomes-Spirit/Fulfillment
